Gay and Lesbian Counselling Sydney

LGBT Therapist, Sydney

Clinical Psychologists specialising in LGBT issues and working with gay and lesbian clients.

Two of our psychologists, Oscar Modesto and Nasreen Yasin, have strong expertise and interest in working with gay and lesbian clients.

Dr Oscar Modesto is currently lecturer and co-ordinator of the counselling programs at Australian Catholic University. Prior to this he spent many years as a lecturer in psychology at Macquarie University and in senior roles in various not-for-profit counselling programs and committees. A key area of interest and expertise for Oscar is working with gay men. He has spoken at national and international conferences on topics including the coming out process, the formation of an identity as a gay male, and the construction of couple relationships in gay males. Over the years, Oscar has explored and researched the importance of a gay identity and the role that it has on developing romantic relationships for gay men.

Dr Nasreen Yasin holds multiple post-graduate degrees in psychology spanning clinical psychology, counselling psychology, rehabilitation psychology and couple and family therapy. In addition to therapeutic work in both public and private clinics, for the last 15 years she has lectured and tutored in the psychology department at Macquarie University. During that time she also worked as a group facilitator at Twenty10, formerly the Gay & Lesbian Counselling Service of NSW, and her recent research investigated mental health issues experienced by members of the non-heterosexual community due to discrimination.

Both Oscar and Nasreen provide individual therapy as well as couple therapy.
